About the LaCIM
The Laboratoire d’Algèbre, de Combinatoire et d’Informatique Mathématique (LACIM) is a Centre de recherche institutionnel at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). The LACIM members are researchers, posdtoctoral fellows and students whose areas of researches originate in Combinatorics and its relationships to Algebra and Computer science. LACIM is also one of the Centre de Recherche Mathématiques (CRM) laboratories.
Combinatorics is an area whose aim is to develop the understanding and the analysis of finite and discrete structures, LACIM has first be known for the development of the Combinatorial theory of Species, who unifies et deepen the combinatorial constructions such as trees, graphs, permutations or words.
Since its creation, the areas of research at LACIM have greatly diversified. LACIM is well-known on the international scene as one of the research pole in Algebraic combinatorics, Enumerative combinatorics and Combinatorics of words, with also areas of research in Bioinformatics and Analysis of Algorithms. LACIM has close collaborations with most of the other major centres in the domain, particularly in Canada, in France and in the USA.
The Canadian Research Chair algèbre, combinatoire et informatique mathématique from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is associated to LACIM.
